History

The Anglican Parish of North Rockhampton is a ministry area that begins in the vibrant city of Rockhampton and stretches north to include the rural communities of Parkhurst, Marlborough and St Lawrence. That's a north-south distance of 180km!

There are five churches in the Parish: St David's (Simpson Street, Rockhampton), St John's, Ford Street (Rockhampton), St John's (Parkhurst), All Saints'(Marlborough), and Christ Church (St Lawrence).

In recent years we have been on a journey which has involved saying good-bye to much loved church buildings so that new expressions of worship could be explored, and new forms of ministry developed. It is a journey that has been under-girded by prayer, and the belief that God was calling us to be more than what we were. In 2005 the churches of St Barnabas' (North Rockhampton), St John's (Koongal), and St Matthew's (Park Avenue) were closed, and a new Parish was formed using St David's Church in Frenchville as the main worship centre.

At this main worship centre we have two Sunday morning services: 7.30am - Sung Eucharist using prayer books and the Together in Song Australian Hymn Book. Music at this service is led by organ and piano; 9.30am - Contemporary communion service using a broad range of material presented via data projector. During term time there is Sunday school for Primary age children. Music at this service is led by a band that can include many instruments!

We call our selves the All Saints' Community because we seek to honour the dedications of the churches that have been closed, and we seek to affirm the understanding that all people are called to ministry through baptism.
